Requirements

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A copy of the Steam version of Umineko Golden Fantasia, which can be acquired on Steam’s website.
  • Windows 10 / 11. Linux is also compatible via Proton, but only Proton 9 has shown to be stable.

Download

Grab the latest release of Golden Forgery from the releases page:

Install steps

  1. Switch to the community branch on Steam by right-clicking the game and clicking Properties -> Betas -> Community.
  2. Wait for the game to be ready to launch.
  3. Extract the archive. Unzip golden-forgery-X.Y.Z.zip into a temporary folder.
  4. Copy files into the game directory. Move the contents of the extracted folder into your Umineko Golden Fantasia/ install directory, overwriting when prompted.
  5. Launch the game on Steam!

Verifying the install

If everything worked, the title screen will show the Golden Forgery logo in the main menu. You should also see the new character palettes on the character select screen.

Uninstall

To go back to vanilla, delete the MOD directory, the Ougon.exe and Ougon.dll files in the game’s directory, then verify your install on Steam. Alternatively, you can also reinstall the game from Steam.
